No... Not This Time... But That's Fine :)

The journey of Fly Beni, Fly! the animation in IPCC 2012 has ended. We didn't manage to place ourselves in the top 15 but the experience we gathered along the journey was priceless.

To sum up our experience - We went to the battle with the wrong bullet! We were convinced that this competition was open to everyone (even without any animation background) but at the end of the day, they were still looking for participation with a complete technical team. Our focus was mainly on the storyline, the judges agreed that it was one of the best (at least in our session) but lacking of expertise & experience in animation itself caused us the 'defeat'.

Disappointed? A little bit... But we quickly recovered when we realized Allah has different plan for us... A better plan, of course!

We have our 2nd book to finish up and the English version to come out... The 'defeat' allows us to focus on our current projects, increase the chances of the 2 projects to get done on time.

What we've learned from this experience - Animation industry is so huge and requires huge commitment from the industry player. We realized, as soon as after our pitching session (1 week before the results), that we are not ready for this yet. Someday we will, anyway it has always been in our bigger plan, but its just not today.

One thing for sure, you will hear more about Fly Beni, Fly! in future. We may not be animators but storytellers we are. There's a story about this boy Beni that needs to be told to the whole world :) InsyaAllah...

p/s: Congrats to our friend, Yvonne Soe (S2T book cover illustrator) & her teammates from Mace Studio. They are one of the finalist... Looking forward for you 'Ean & T'ean' sizzle animation!
